BATTERIES

Our system runs at 24 volt dc, with 800 amp hours.

This is made up of 2 banks of batteries in Series and Parallel.

Each bank has 12 x 2.13 volt dc AGM (Absorbed Glass Matt) batteries in Series producing 24 volt dc with 400 amp hours.

Join the two banks together in Parallel produces 24 volt dc with 800 amp hours.

If you were to add another bank this would increase to a 24 volt dc with 1200 amp hour system.

We find that there is enough power to supply the house for 2 days, this can be extended to 3 days but we do not discharge our battery bank below 24 volts dc. It may be an option to purchase 500 amp hour batteries to supplement more power requirements.

We use AGM batteries for many reasons, you can Google the pros and cons, but because little or no maintenance is required, give off no gas, they charge and discharge quickly without damaging the battery and last for up to 20 years if looked after, they are our choice. Granted they are more expensive but worth it. They also have a 5 year manufactures warranty.
